Last week I wrote this haiku as I desperately tried to come up with a story for Vivian Kirkfield's #50PreciousWords contest.
A blank screen. I stare.
Why is it so difficult
to write fifty words?
And of course, as soon as I wrote that, inspiration struck. I was scrolling thru Facebook and saw pictures of my local zoo holding a Teddy Bear Clinic to patch up kid's toys with a little bit of fluff and some sewing. This made me remember a different post from years ago of a lost doll found at the mall. Merge those two together and I had a teddy bear lost at the mall. Hope you enjoy.
Teddy's Mall Trip by Stephanie Maksymiw Word count 45 Teddy's packed - for a trip, taken out, left. Strange hands reach down, grabbing the bear. Pictures posted - on shopping spree, missing owner, lost. Familiar hands reach out, claiming the bear. Teddy's packed - for a trip, back home, safe. Tiny hands reach around, hugging her bear. |
