Today is April Fool's Day and an exciting day for the kidlit community. Not only is it CookiePitch day, it's also the time for SpringFlingKidLit. SpringFlingKidLit is hosted by Ciara O'Neal and Kaitlyn Leann Sanchez. I hope you enjoy my entry and the gif created by Allison Strick.

The Bee Who Cried Flower

by Stephanie Maksymiw

140 words

There once was a colony of bees in search of pollen. They'd buzz all around town from sunup till sundown.

Tired and bored, one mischievous bee cried "Flower!"

The colony zoomed to find a lush, green field…

with zero flowers…

and one laughing bee.

The next morning, the bee was still bored. "Flower!" he cried.

The colony hurried to find a vase filled with silky, colorful…

plastic flowers…

and one laughing bee.

Later, the bee tried his trick once more. "Flower!" he cried.

The colony raced to find tons of fine, white...

flour packed in sacks…

and one laughing bee.

One day, the bee stumbled upon a garden full of daisies, sunflowers, and thistle. "Flower!" he cried.

But the colony did not fly to find the little bee...

because no one bee-lieves a trickster...

even when they tell the truth.

This is awesome! I only wish I had known of it a few weeks ago when I scarred my 4yo daughter with the original story 🐺. This is a much better story for kids of today’s world 🤪
